What are the symptoms of a bad motherboard/logic board on a MacBook Pro laptop or iMac?

1. The lights in the front turn on, but the computer does not boot or nothing appears on the screen.
2. System beeps and does not boot to OS.
3. The screen shows gibberish or distorted video images.
4. Your MacBook laptop freezes intermittently and you have to turn the system on & off to bring it back on.

What are the causes of such problems?

1. The built-in GeForce or Radeon video card on the motherboard is going bad or it's already defective.
2. Due to too much heat created inside the MacBook, some chips on the motherboard have been damaged. This can happen due to a bad fan or too much dust inside the fan is not letting it spin at optimal speed. This can cause overheating on the logic board and internal components.
3. Any type of water or liquid spill on the unit or even a damp environment.
4. General wear and tear after years of use and abuse!
5. Bad power DC jack port. The MagSafe AC adapter port has gone bad or has broken pins.

Can I get my data if my logic board / Motherbaord is bad?

It depends if your SSD drive is built-in into the motherboard or separate.  If separate, then there is a very high chance

we can recover the data.  However on many newer laptops after 2017, Apple and other manufacturers have the SSD

drive built into the logic board. Please contact us with brand and model number of your laptop and we’ll let you

know what type you have.

If SSD is built-in then the logic board needs to get repaired to get to your data.  If logic board is replaced, all your data is gone.
